There’s been a horrible rumor circulating around the fashion world for quite some time now. Someone, somewhere, decided that all flat shoes such as ballet flats, sandals, slip-ons, loafers and coaches are dull. Well, we are here to state that these rumors are vicious, hurtful and could not be further from the truth.
2. Street Grunge
whilst pretty and street grunge may be at opposite ends of the fashion spectrum, flats can appeal to both. If you are more of a grunge gal than a pretty gal, then pop on a pair of coaches or canvas slip-ons. Torn jeans, t-shirts, caps and leather jackets are fantastic additions to street inspired outfits. Fortunately for you, trainers and slip-ons will be kind to your feet as you traipse all over town.
3. Tailored
The French have this look down pat. They’ve pretty much mastered the art of looking effortlessly tailored and chic while wearing a pair of ballet flats. How can they do it? French ladies pair their flats with tailored tops, pants and blazers. Luckily for us, you don’t actually have to be French to pull off this look. Although, riding a bicycle and projecting a baguette on your shoulder wouldn’t necessarily be a terrible idea.
4. Casual
If you’re planning on leaving the house this Sunday morning, please put on a set of apartments and visit your nearest café for brunch. You’ve had a hard week and you deserve it. You will look particularly nice if you match your flats with a few slouchy pants or a loose button up. You are welcome.
5. Fancy
Iggy Izalea isn’t the only person who can appear no matter the event. If you’re feeling just a little fancy, pop on a pair of ballet flats, points or sandals. Flats are a terrific way to tone outlets. Think sparkles, graphic prints and higher fashion accessories.
Final Word
There you have it. The evidence is in the pudding. There is upwards of 5 distinct ways to design a set of flats without appearing like a simple bitch. It is time we all forgot that this nonsense about apartments being dull.
Proceed and be fabulous!
