If you are a lover of French luxury goods company Dior and you’re interested to find out more about the brand’s history, then the brilliant documentary film by French-born filmmaker Frédéric Tcheng qualified Dior and I is a must-watch.
The movie also gives viewers a glimpse of the inner workings of the design house, from the tireless-but-passionate seamstresses of this atelier, to Raf Simmons’ creative process — while paying homage the heritage of Christian Dior.
Speaking of his vision for the movie, Tcheng stated in a statement, “The house of Dior is a storied world where managers, artists, and workers collaborate on a daily basis to make a vision and I consider the film to be an ensemble piece. Through immersing the viewer in the world of Dior and revealing the extraordinary effort required to generate a collection, I hoped that the film would ultimately reveal a cross section of Parisian life, in the tradition of great French social realists such as Renoir and Zola. Who is the “I” in the title Dior and that I? I strived to keep the answer open to a lot of possibilities.”
Dior and I was introduced in the Tribeca Film Festival in New York along with also the Sydney Film Festival last year to a tiny audience, but will soon be released to the public in Sydney on March 26.
