This season, the City of Melbourne welcomes MPavilion a theory that has been pioneered by philanthropist and business girl Naomi Milgrom. For the next four years from October to February over summer and spring, a part of the Queen Victoria Gardens (opposite the National Gallery of Victoria) will play host to the pavilion. Within the pavilion, an impressive and diverse program of events will unfold, such as talks, workshopsand live performances and installations invented by dozens of Melbourne’s creative forces. Including collaborations with cultural applications like Melbourne Festival and Melbourne Music week, each event is free and open to the general public.   At night, the 12 x 12 metre steel structure is an enclosed unassuming cube-like space, however each morning at 8am during the Daily Opening Ceremony (accompanied by a specially created soundscape) the walls gradually unfurl as if they were a flower opening to the sun.
