Chanel Names Willow Smith as its Newest Ambassador

Willow Smith has been declared as Chanel’s latest ambassador. The announcement came only after Chanel’s Fall 2016 series for which Smith sat front row along with her mum, Jada Pinkett Smith. The multi-talented singer and teen “It” girl, joins the likes of other actors, such as Lily-Rose Depp and Kristen Stewart, in being an ambassador for its luxury label. The 15 year old’s duties in her new job will consist of attending Chanel shows and rocking Chanel outfits.

Smith took to Instagram to share her delight at being chosen for the position, posting a picture of herself and Karl Lagerfeld at the Chanel show. The photo caption read; “Thank you Karl Lagerfeld and the whole team at Chanel for enlarging the perceptions of “beauty” by picking me to be the brand new Chanel ambassador. I’m honoured.”

Ferragamo to Battle Counterfeits with Microchips

Salvatore Ferragamo is intensifying its campaign to put a halt to counterfeits using microchips. The Italian luxury brand plans to set the microchips inside the insides of its shoes and lining of its own bags in order to make its goods recognizable against fakes without altering the aesthetics.

The microchips may also have a secondary function however, helping resale value. The brand thinks that when sellers can demonstrate that they’re selling genuine Ferragamo products the resale price will jump considerably. This then should also increase the original value of the product.

In light of potential privacy backlash, Ferragamo wants to guarantee customers that the microchips will simply be able to be read by a space of approximately 4cm, meaning buyers cannot be tracked.

Lanvin Confirms Bouchra Jarrar because its New Womenswear Designer

After a week’s worth of rumours, Lanvin has confirmed that Bouchra Jarrar will indeed be its brand new designer. Jarrar has been called the artistic director of women’s collections and will start her new role immediately. Her first set for the French fashion house is going to be for spring/summer 2017.

“It is a massive honor to continue promoting the Lanvin design, with designs made from the company’s ateliers by groups who have extraordinary expertise. Joining Lanvin matches a desire to expend my creation to broader fields of saying. It is my intention to bring to Lanvin the harmony and consistency of a style designed for ladies, a fashion of our period,” said Jarrar of her new appointment.

For the past six years Jarrar has been designing for her own eponymous couture label and before that, honed her skills at Lacroix and Balenciaga.

In Lanvin, Jarrar will follow in the footsteps of Alber Elbaz, who abruptly parted in the tag last October. In terms of menswear, which Elbaz also oversaw, it appears likely that Lanvin Homme designer, Lucas Ossendrijver will assume sole responsibility.

Karl Lagerfeld Supports Hillary Clinton for U.S. President

It appears that the U.S. presidential race is attractive everyone around the world, including legendary designer, Karl Lagerfeld. Despite being not able to vote Lagerfeld has shown that he’s in support of Hillary Clinton for the top job.

Following this week’s Chanel Fall 2016 series in Paris, Lagerfeld voiced his endorsement of Clinton.

“I believe with all the first black president, what they need now is the first woman president. That must change too.”

Clearly not impressed with Clinton’s main competitions, Donald Trump and Bernie Sanders, Lagerfeld included wryly that “There’s nobody else to support anyhow.”
