Kim Jones Departs Louis Vuitton

This week, the man responsible for the explosive Louis Vuitton x Supreme collaboration bid farewell to the luxury fashion house. By 2011 before this Thursday, Kim Jones reinvigorated Louis Vuitton throughout his role as menswear artistic manager. It was, therefore, fitting that his final series for the house, presented in the Palais-Royal at Paris, showcased the best of their best. Accordingly, despite the fact that the show focused on menswear, supermodels Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell made a surprise appearance. Following a stunning  series, which presented the masterful fusion   of classic, luxury tailoring with adventurous hiking apparel, Moss and Campbell strutted the runway at a final farewell to Jones. Commenting on the series, Moss concluded, “it was amazing — of course! However, it always is.”

Though his tenure at Louis Vuitton might have come to an end, fans of Kim Jones don’t fear, since the designer isn’t leaving the fashion world just yet. Although his next move hasn’t yet been declared, it’s theorized that we might be seeing him take the lead at Versace or Burberry in the not too distant future. Watch this space.

A super finale. @MrKimJones, Naomi Campbell and Kate Moss on the runway at his final show for #LouisVuitton. See the #LVMenFW18 Show now on Instagram Live and at louisvuitton.com.

Shape Changing Robotic Mannequins are Coming

Every now and then the fashion universe presents us with an extra special moment. Often, this comes from the form of the phrase: “One size fits all”. This time, it arrives with the introduction of a high-tech, shape-shifting mannequin. Created by French company Euveka, this innovative robot mannequin looks and feels just like its predecessors. The sole difference? Below the surface, mechatronic, computer and material technologies enable this mannequin to morph into Just about Any shape or size

If you have ever made your clothes, then you understand this is kind of a big thing. Normally, designing a clothes line in a range of sizes requires a collection of mannequins. With Euveka, you simply need one. With the capability to morph before your eyes, this new technology has already led to Euveka partnering with luxury fashion houses such as Louis Vuitton and Chanel. The possibilities, however, don’t end with the world of fashion.   Creators state this mannequin also benefits for medical, sporting, military and security businesses.   In the end, if you are designing for a soldier, a pregnant woman, an athlete or the older, this futuristic mannequin is the only one you may need.
