Set amongst the electric trackside atmosphere and Flemington’s famous rose gardens would be the Yellowglen garden terrace. Co-designed by jewelry designer Samantha Walls and French paper celebrity Marine Coutroutsios, it’s the perfect front row seat to witness the passing parade of the fashion enthusiasts. For the more dedicated race-goes the viewing platform is at prime position to overlook the monitor.
Guests arrived through the social networking hub adorned with mirrors and oriental decorative artwork which cleverly functioned as a photograph booth tube where they could catch their fashion moment before linking the polished celebration set indoors. We enjoyed a collection of Yellowglen’s sparkling drinks and cocktails together with the continuous supply of lemon blossom cupcakes.
This is the year where glamour makes a welcome return to spring up racing in the form of 50’s silhouettes and backyard floral prints which are scaled large for graphic effect. Abstract digital prints were the people’s choice of the day together with monochrome and color blocked layers. Pastel satins and decorative lace along with various renditions of leopard print finish the bundle with opulence and an enduring fashion reminiscent of a bygone age.
Our favorite colours were effervescent colors of yellow with splashes of green, pink and white. Red was worn by the daring few and looked amazing when cut with printing or constructed top-to-toe. The boys were on a winning beef with colors of blue ranging from Cobalt to French Navy. Mix and match tailoring was tastefully pieced together by gents whose style taste was at full gallop.
